1) Overall, I'm very happy of how everything worked out. It was a challenge trying to fit as many teams as possible in a field and preserve distance between nets to guarantee game quality, something that we could overcame by having a more extended schedule, with a long group phase where different groups had to share one or more nets.
During the day of the tournament, the biggest challenge though was to communicate with everyone and make sure they understood how it worked, so there was no group that gets locked out for not having a net and, therefore, delay the tournament.
Surprisingly everyone understood the format and there was no trouble, so I also need to thank everyone for it, that was key for the success. Also not having Tops or someone with the sole responsibility of the stream was tough, having to keep an eye all day to the equipment, what was the camera showing and try to talk someone into (or bribe with beers) to commentate in the stream.
2) Definitely it didn’t help, despite we had a long schedule we still ended up a bit later than planned both days, and I the main reason for that was the weather. Specially on Sunday, with people already tired from the day before, breaks between game became longer and longer, and then the rain and the cold came, so every time was harder to get back on the field and play. Some teams even had to forfeit on Sunday due injury or feeling sick.
Despite the weather, people made a last effort to continue the tournament until the end, so also props to all the brave players that never give up.
3) The general feeling is very good, everyone is satisfied of how it went, although everyone is also very exhausted for the weekend, it was intense. Since most of the players were also playing the tournament, it is very complicated to do both playing and be part of the organization, but we are very thankful to them, everyone still took up the challenge the best way they could.
From the non-players part of the organization, people who wasn’t so familiar with the sport, everyone was very happy with how everything developed and amazed with the people, the vibe, the community and the sport itself. I’m sure they will be looking forward to put more roundnet in their life after this.
