What is FRESH?

FRESH is a roundnet training camp held every March in Mallorca, Spain. It runs for roughly ten days and combines around 20 hours of small-group coaching with a EURA-sanctioned tournament, the Mallorca Open, while the entire group stays together in one hotel a minute's walk from the fields.

It started in 2022 as a villa idea between friends. Five editions later it has become the largest and longest-running camp in the sport, and every single one has sold out. The point was never to build the biggest event. It was to build the one where a player from Manila and a player from Munich end the week as training partners.

FRESH is organised by Future Roundnet, a roundnet coaching and events brand run by REAL TEAM, s.r.o. in Bratislava, Slovakia.

“Mallorca was the perfect location and the ideal way to start the season. It is incredibly important to have organizations like Future Roundnet that make this kind of exchange possible.”

The FRESH Experience

Two minutes is faster than two hundred words.

The Rhythm

What a Day at FRESH Looks Like

Training days follow the same shape. Two coached blocks, long breaks with the fields open, and evenings that belong to the group rather than the schedule.

MorningBreakfast at the hotel, then a three-hour coached training block.
MiddayLong break. Fields and equipment stay open for pick-up games or individual work.
AfternoonA second coached block or a specialist clinic.
Late dayOpen pick-ups, then sunset by the sea.
EveningDinner with everyone, then a social. This is the part people actually come back for.
The Coaching

Small Groups, Individual Feedback

Max 16 per coach

Capacity is capped so every player gets looked at individually. It is the reason FRESH sells out instead of scaling up.

Grouped by level

Players train with people at their own standard. Beginners are not parked at the back of a pro session.

No single correct way

Coaches teach principles and then fit them to the player in front of them, rather than enforcing one technique.

Coaching staff has included Paq Clifford (US), Umut Renkligül (DE), Jakub Popluhar (SK/AT), Jonas Tarnutzer (CH) and Pascal Schlosser (DE), alongside past coaches Vinny Matheu, Nelson Dziruni, Janek Stachiewicz and Fred Hinkle. Between them: national team players, national coaches, European and World Championship medallists.

The Setup

One Hotel. One Community.

At the first FRESH in 2022 everyone was scattered across separate houses, walking half an hour to reach the nets. The whole group used to look up at the hotel next to the fields and joke about staying there one day.

The most recent edition took over the 4-star Aparthotel Fontanellas Playa: turf fields a one-minute walk away, beach at the doorstep, pools, gym and spa for recovery, and breakfast and dinner with the whole squad under one roof. The upgrade was not about luxury. It was about deleting the commute so the time goes into playing and into each other.

The fields matter too. Earlier editions played on grass that produced bad bounces and rolled ankles. The current setup is turf, built to the standard the level of play deserves.

The Tournament

The Mallorca Open

A EURA-sanctioned tournament run over the opening weekend together with Ruthless Roundnet, now in its fifth edition. Open, women's, mixed and 3v3 divisions, with results counting toward European Pro status.

Camp participants have a place in it. It is also open to players who are not attending the camp. We wrote up the third edition at the time: the preview and the review.

What Players Say
Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an advanced player to join FRESH?+

No. Players of all levels take part. FRESH is not focused solely on performance, but on building social connection through the sport. Training groups are split by level, so beginners train with beginners and pros train with pros.

How large are the coaching groups?+

A maximum of 16 players per coach. The camp is built around individual feedback, which is why capacity is deliberately limited.

Where exactly does FRESH take place?+

In Mallorca, Spain. The most recent edition was based at the 4-star Aparthotel Fontanellas Playa, with the turf fields a one-minute walk from the hotel and the beach at the doorstep.

Is there a tournament?+

Yes. The Mallorca Open runs over the opening weekend and is EURA-sanctioned, so results count toward European Pro status. It is organised together with Ruthless Roundnet and is also open to players not attending the camp.

I do not have a tournament partner. Is that a problem?+

No. Free-agent lists are run for both the open tournament and for FRESH participants, and there is a week of camp beforehand to find someone. Most people arrive without a partner.

Do I have to be an active roundnet player?+

No. Most participants have some affiliation with the sport, as a current player, a former player or the partner of a player, but it is not a requirement.

How are participants selected?+

Capacity is limited by field space, so places are allocated rather than sold first-come-first-served. Criteria: nationality and club diversity, personal motivation from the application, time of registration, gender balance with a goal of 50 percent women, group registrations, and previous FRESH or Mallorca Open attendance.

Why is capacity so small?+

Training field capacity and organisational capacity. Keeping a maximum of 16 players per coach is only possible at this size.

Can players from outside Europe attend?+

Yes. Participants have come from 44+ countries, and the coaching staff has included coaches from the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Slovakia.

Who organises FRESH?+

REAL TEAM, s.r.o., Pri krizi 18, 841 02 Bratislava, Slovakia, owned by Jakub Popluhar, under the Future Roundnet brand. The same company organised the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions.

When is the next FRESH?+

FRESH has historically taken place in March, and FRESH 27 is planned for March 2027. The exact dates are not set yet: they depend on the German league calendar and on the hotel. Everything about the next edition is on the FRESH 27 page, and if you leave your email there, the dates, the hotel and the price come to you.

FRESH comes back in March 2027, sixth edition. The exact dates are not set yet, because they depend on the German league calendar and on the hotel we are still negotiating.
