Future Roundnet is a roundnet coaching operation based in Vienna and Munich, working across Europe. Individual coaching, group clinics, and education for coaches who run their own sessions. A maximum of 16 players per coach, in every format.
New to the sport? Start with what roundnet is (auf Deutsch), then come back.
Future Roundnet is a roundnet coaching operation based in Vienna and Munich, run under REAL TEAM, s.r.o. It has coached the sport since 2019 in three formats: one-to-one individual coaching, group clinics for clubs and communities, and coach education for people who lead training themselves. Coaching is delivered as travelling clinics across Europe and as the coached blocks at FRESH, the training camp the brand runs in Mallorca every March.
The organising constraint is the same in every format: a maximum of 16 players per coach. Coaching here is built on individual feedback, and individual feedback stops being possible above that number. It is the reason sessions cap out instead of scaling up.
One-to-one work on one part of the game. In practice this is most often the serve, then defence positioning and shot selection. Sessions are built around a single correction rather than a tour of everything you could improve.
Clinics for clubs, communities and events. Groups are split by level, so beginners train with beginners and advanced players get advanced material. Maximum 16 players per coach.
Coach education for people who already run roundnet training. Session design, the language you use to correct a player, and drill progressions that hold up when the group is mixed-level.
The serve is the most coachable shot in roundnet, because it is the only one played from a standing start with no reaction pressure. Everything else in the game happens while somebody is moving at you. That makes the serve the fastest place to buy points with practice, and it is the single most requested individual coaching topic Future Roundnet receives.
Coached properly it is treated as a repeatable motion, not a trick. The order matters: a toss that lands in the same place every time, then a contact point that stays at the same height, and only then speed or spin. Most players who lose serve points are losing them to an inconsistent contact height, not to a lack of power, and adding power to an inconsistent motion makes the problem worse rather than better.
This is also why serve work translates well to one-to-one sessions: the motion can be repeated hundreds of times in an hour and corrected between each repetition, which is not true of anything that happens in live play.
Clinics have been run on the road since 2021. The list below is where coaching has physically taken place, not a schedule. For current dates, or to bring a clinic to your club, get in touch.
Jakub Popluhar leads the coaching side. He is a qualified physical education teacher with a Master of Education, has more than 8 years of roundnet coaching and over 1,000 coaching hours behind him, and is a former national coach of Belgium. He founded FRESH in 2022 and works as a coach of coaches.
For the FRESH camp a wider staff is brought in each year. The 2026 edition ran with 8 coaches from 4 countries, and past staff has included elite players from the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Austria. Coaching staff is selected per edition rather than being a fixed roster.
I really liked the training. Everything was clear and I loved the personal tips, and that it was clear there is not just one way to do things.
The coaches all took their time to talk to everybody individually and gave good feedback. For me that's the most important part.
Liked the women's group a lot, especially the level. I had the feeling we learned a lot from each other, because we were all good in different parts.
Yes, and that is the normal case rather than the exception. Roundnet has almost no youth pipeline, so nearly every player in Europe, including the ones on national teams, started as an adult. Groups are split by level, so beginners train with beginners instead of being parked at the back of a session for advanced players.
In practice, yes. Roundnet is the name of the sport; Spikeball is a brand of equipment, and the name most people search for because it is how they first met the game. The coaching is identical either way, and Spikeball is an official sponsor of the FRESH camp.
A maximum of 16 players per coach, in every format. The cap exists because the coaching is built on individual feedback, which stops being possible above that number.
Both. Group clinics for clubs and communities are one of the three formats, and they are how most of the travelling coaching has been delivered. There is also a third format, coaching for coaches, aimed at people who run roundnet training themselves.
Vienna and Munich, operating across Europe. Clinics have run in Gothenburg, Padova, Prague, Bologna, Munich, Bratislava and Vienna, plus Cartagena in Colombia in 2021 and Manila in the Philippines in 2022. The largest coaching block of the year is in Mallorca, at FRESH.
For most players, the serve, because it is the only shot in the game played from a standing start with no reaction pressure, so it can be repeated and corrected hundreds of times in a session. After that, defence positioning, which costs nothing physically and is almost entirely a decision problem.
